How do I join the JJIA?
To join the JJIA you will need to submit an application to affiliate. This form is available on request and must be completed in full to be considered for affiliation.Your application will be discussed at the next meeting of the JJIA and a decision will be made on your suitability to join.
Will the JJIA interfere with the everyday running of my club?
The JJIA will not interfere in the running of its affiliated clubs other than expecting the instructor to abide by the JJIA code of conduct.
WilI I have to follow the JJIA grading requirements?
The JJIA does not have set grading reqirements, this is the responsibility of each individual club. The JJIA would though expect each club to have structured training practices.
If I have no one above my grade in my club can I be graded be the JJIA?
The JJIA can organise to grade instructors that no longer have someone of a higher rank within their organisation. The JJIA will arrange a panel grading consisting of instructors ranked at 3rd Dan and above and from different Ju Jitsu clubs to ensure a fair and consistant result. If grading requirements for said grade are in place at the instructors club the JJIA will use these requirements for the grading. In the event that there are no requirements drawn up the JJIA can formulate grading requirements that closely follow the format of the instructors club, therefore allowing the club to use the grading requirements in the future.
Will the JJIA Determine the colour belt system for grades?
The colour belt system is the responsibility of each individual club and will vary from club to club. The only time there may be a need for an explanation of the ranking system would be at shared camps and seminars to ensure students are paired up with people of the same level.
Can a new instructor seek help in setting up a club from the JJIA?
Yes the JJIA can advise on the set up of a new club.
Will the JJIA if asked sit on a grading panel for Dan gradings.
The JJIA can if asked sit on a panel to support the importance of a Dan grading.
